At last, my long-awaited coming-of-age/romance novel Is There Life After College? has finally arrived! Huzzah! (I’ve always wanted to say that.) I’ve literally been teasing this book for over a year, since I was interviewed on The Donna Drake Show and mentioned my next book is going to be “about college.” Truth be told, the book isn’t really about college; the school setting is just the jumping-off point of the story, but there are many themes in the book I wrestled with in college, namely identity, faith, and romantic love. The book is available in paperback, as an eBook, and for the first time for one of my books, a hardcover. I’ve been working on this book longer than any of my others. At 300 pages, it’s not only my longest book, but it’s my most ambitious. As I recently told a fellow author friend, I have a feeling this book will either make or break me, but I’m probably being overdramatic. Then again, there are risks. As I’ve mentioned before, this is my first romance novel (and, as such, first book I’ve written with any intimate scenes), it’s my first book where nothing supernatural happens in it, and it’s my first book that takes place entirely in the ‘90s—1999 to be exact. (Danger Peak took place entirely in the ‘80s, Déjà View took place in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s, and The Electric God and Other Shorts had a few stories that took place in the ‘90s but others that were set in the near future or other time periods.)
Anyway, that’s enough from me. This post was short and sweet. I hope you guys enjoy the new book. It was a lot of work writing it.
