I Finally Have a Barnes & Noble Book Signing!

Well, it looks like my open letter to Barnes & Noble last week worked. Literally a day after I posted a blog complaining about not being given a Barnes & Noble book signing, despite 4 years of trying and after publishing three award-winning, critically acclaimed books, I was offered a signing at one of their locations, specifically Manhasset, NY, on Saturday, May 23rd at 1 p.m. Finally! And during my birth month! After all the trouble I had trying to get a signing there, it’s literally one of the best birthday gifts I could have received. Does this mean someone at B&N read my open letter and decided to give me a break? I doubt it. My blog isn’t that popular. I would chalk this up to a massive coincidence. And just think; if I had only waited one more day, I wouldn’t have needed to post that open letter blog in the first place! Oh well. Live and learn, I guess.

This news was all the more sweet for me because the Manhasset Barnes & Noble is a really nice location in a well-developed neighborhood. It’s on the pricey North Shore of Long Island and features two floors and a large Starbucks. There’s also a university nearby, so the place is usually packed with students looking for their next read.

Here is a link with all the details:

Anyway, this blog is short and sweet. I just wanted to make the announcement to put the upcoming signing on everyone’s radar. (I already placed the signing at the bottom of my homepage.) I also wanted to clear the air with B&N. All is forgiven. And sorry for the cheap shots at the authors I referenced—though obviously not by name—in my last blog who already had B&N book signings. Jealousy is an ugly thing.

In other MTP news: Speaking of signings, my last signing this past weekend went fairly well for me, though that’s not saying much. Special thanks to everyone who showed up, including my best friend and Mary, my “number-one fan.” 😊 Also, thanks to Elyse for the pic of me above from that signing. I’m heading to my first awards ceremony this weekend in New Jersey for the NYC Big Book Awards, which will be honoring The Electric God and Other Shorts in the category of Short Stories. My next signing is Saturday, May 2 at the East Islip Spring Craft Fair. I wasn’t given the time yet, but I’m assuming it’s from late morning to late afternoon, like all these craft fairs are. I’ll post the time on my homepage when I get it. If you’re so inclined, come swing by for some books and crafts, and wish me a “Happy birthday!” 2 days early. (Yes, I was born on Star Wars Day.)
